I love serving this on a cold day with a bed of rice and a salad. You can make this recipe vegetarian by omitting the beef without the flavor being compromised. Cover the saute pan with a lid, vented at the edge. We like the okra quite tender and almost falling apart, but that is a matter of preference.

- Add lemon juice, stir and serve

This 'yekhne' is such a versatile dish, that it is made not only in every household in Lebanon, but throughout various households in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
