The ingredients needed to make Good Friday Fish Pie:
  1. Get 450 grams cod or haddock fillets
  2. Prepare 100 grams prawns
  3. Get 600 ml milk
  4. Get 40 grams butter
  5. Take 40 grams plain flour
  6. Take 3 tsp fresh chopped parsley
  7. Prepare 900 grams potatoes
  8. Get 100 ml cream or milk
  9. Prepare 50 grams butter
  10. Get 100 grams grated red cheese

Now add the shellfish or crustaceans to the pie dish. They can be put in raw, but if large, slice. Pour the sauce over the fish. Lift the fish out onto a plate and strain the milk into a jug.

Instructions to make Good Friday Fish Pie:
  1. Preheat oven to gas 5
  2. Put fish in oven proof dish with milk
  3. Add salt and pepper, bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Strain milk from fish and reserve.
  5. Flake the fish and put back in bowl, add prawns.
  6. Melt butter in saucepan and add flour, mix well.
  7. Remove from heat and slowly add reserved milk, parsley, salt and pepper.
  8. Bring sauce back to the boil while stirring until sauce thickens.
  9. Pour over the fish.
  10. Boil potatoes in salted water.
  11. Mash potatoes with milk or cream, butter and pepper.
  12. Cover fish with the mash and smooth over with fork.
  13. Sprinkle over grated cheese, bake for 20 - 25 minutes
  14. Serve with fresh garden peas and crusty bread.

Chop the eggs and distribute over the fish. Scatter the prawns over the top, mash the potatoes and spread on top, and dot with a little extra butter. A wonderful dish for Good Friday and I'm very grateful to Fr Bede for the photos. Fish Pie for Easter!
