The ingredients needed to make Fondant:
  1. Get 2 tbsp gelatin
  2. Make ready 2 tbsp glycerin
  3. Prepare 2 tbsp shortening
  4. Get 200 g glucose powder
  5. Take 2 kg icing sugar
  6. Prepare 3/4 cup cold water

Fondant is a smooth sugar paste cake coating that is rolled out with a rolling pin. The smoothness of this icing allows you to decorate a cake more extravagantly then you can with your typical icing. Instructions to make Fondant:
  1. Take a steel bowl with water and sprinkle the gelatin, let it bloom.
  2. In another bowl, sieve the icing and make a well in the centre.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients to the bloomed gelatin and place on a hot water bath to melt, stir to mix well.
  4. Add the gelatin mixture and mix gently with the hand as you incorporate the icing sugar.
  5. Place on a flat surface and knead thoroughly using corn flour.
  6. Store in an airtight container to rest about 8 hours.
