I fell in love with Sabudana /Sago when my mom made Sabudana Kichidi for me. The preparation of Sabudana(Sago) kheer is quite similar to any other kheer variety just that we need to take care of the cooking process of sago. - In a thick bottomed pan, add milk.
- Also add soaked sabudana and grated beetroot.
- Boil the milk on medium flame.
- Boil for 5 minutes or till the sabunda turns translucent.
- Now add 1/4 cup sugar.
- Also add chopped dry fruits and cardamom powder.
- Mix well making sure everything is mixed well.
- Simmer for another 20 minutes stirring in between. Also the milk thickens.
- Finally, serve sago beetroot hot or chilled.
Beetroot Kheer Recipe is made during fasting. Paste of beetroot cooked in milk and garnished with cashew nuts, almond and raisins. I love Nylon sabudana kheer with sugar a lot. But my husband hates it like anything. He can taste it only if the sabudana kheer is with jaggery.
