- Make ready 50 gms khoya/ mava
- Prepare 250 ml milk
- Take 100 ml ghee
- Get 100-150 gms sugar
- Take 1 tsp Elaichi powder
- Prepare Few strands of saffron
- Take as required cashews and raisins
It will give it a nice and creamy texture, that skim milk or low-fat milk won't give. Khoya - I like to add Khoya in my Halwa, but it is completely optional. You can make the Halwa only with Milk too. Beetroot Halwa is a delicious fudge-like pudding that is made from grated beetroot stewed in milk and spiced with cardamom.
Instructions to make Beetroot Halwa:
- Peel beetroot skin and wash it thoroughly.
- Then grate the beetroot.
- Take ghee in a pan and melt it
- Add grated beetroot in it and stir fry it for approximately 10 minutes till beetroot gets little tender on medium flame.
- Add milk in the pan slowly and keep stirring beetroot
- Now cover it with a lid and let it cook on medium flame till beetroot is nicely cooked and becomes tender. It will take approximately 25-30 minutes to cook it.
- Once, beetroot is properly cooked, then add sugar and let it get dissolved in beetroot.
- Now add grated khoya, elaichi powder and few strands of saffron (kesar) and keep on stirring it for approximately 2-3 minutes
- Beetroot halwa is ready to be served. Top it up with roasted cashew nuts and plain kismish.
