  1. Make ready 3/4 cups Raw rice -
  2. Take 3 tbsp Moong dal -

  4. Take Cashew nuts 10 nos
  5. Take 1 tbsp Raisins
  6. Take 1 pinch Cardamom powder
  7. Make ready 4 tbsp Ghee
  8. Take 1/4 cups Milk

Sweet Pongal is a traditional sweet dish which is a concoction of Milk, jaggery and rice. Sweet Pongal (Sarkkarai Pongal) - This simple dessert is usually made during the harvest festival 'Pongal'. It is also prepared very often as a quick snack, dessert or a meal. Sweet Pongal is a Rice, Moong Dal and Jaggery based dessert which is popular in South India.

Steps to make Sweet Pongal:
  1. Wash the rice and moongdal and pressure cook both of them together.In a pan,add a tblsp of ghee and fry the cashewnuts and raisins seperately till golden brown.
  2. Add jaggery in the kadai and add few tblsp of water to it. Stir in between till the jaggery melts and filter the impurities.
  3. Again heat the jaggery syrup in the kadai for 5 mins. Mash the cooked rice nicely by adding milk to it.
  4. Add the rice mixture to the jaggery syrup and mix nicely to avoid forming lumps. Keep the stove in low and add ghee, cardamom powder to it.
  5. Garnish with cashew and raisins and transfer to a serving bowl.
