The ingredients needed to make UnniAppam:
  1. Prepare 1 Cup rava water soaked in
  2. Make ready 2 Cups plain flour
  3. Get 1 Cup jaggery melted
  4. Get a handfull of Bunch coconut sliced
  5. Get 2 Tablespoons ghee pure
  6. Take 1 Pinch baking soda
  7. Make ready 1 banana small
  8. Take 1 Teaspoon jeera
  9. Take 1 Pinch Cardamom powder
  10. Take oil for frying

Steps to make UnniAppam:
  1. Soak rava in water. make paste with hand. to it add 2 cup od plain flour. blend it well
  2. Now add melted jaggery to it and mix it well,make sure no lump is formed. jaggery can be added according to taste. make sure the batter is that of idli batter consisitency.(not too loose not too tight)
  3. Make a paste of banana (i have used lady finger banana, its apt to use Poovan pazham) add it to the batter.. again mix it. Always use hand for mixing.
  4. Add a pinch of jeera, cardamom and baking soda. mix it well.
  5. Add a teaspoon of ghee to the batter (this is purely optional.. it give a special taste to ur appam).
  6. Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee, and add sliced coconut to it.fry it untill its golden brown.. add this to the batter.
  7. Keep the batter for 15 to 30 min.
  8. After 30 min, heat oil in pan at low flame that is specially designed to make unniappam. I have added the foto of pan.
  9. Once oil is heated pour a scoop of batter in each. and fry it.. use tooth prick to see if its cooked well.
