  1. Prepare 1 cup poha
  2. Prepare 2 tbsp coconut powder
  3. Get 6 tbsp jaggery powder
  4. Prepare 1/2 cup roasted dry fruits
  5. Take 1/4 cup peanuts
  6. Make ready 1/2 cup hot milk
  7. Make ready 1 tsp Elaichi (cardamom)powder
  8. Get 3 tbsp ghee

You can make this for a quick neiveidhyam on fridays. Heat jaggery in one cup of water. When jaggery melts, remove from stove, and filter to remove any impurities present. Then powder the roasted poha / aval / flattened rice coarsly to a rava consistency.

Steps to make Poha Jaggery Modak:
  1. Firstly dry roast poha in a non-stick pan for 4-5 mins on low flame till it leaves raw smell.
  2. Transfer it in a plate and let it cool. - Now in the same pan roast coconut powder for 2 mins transfer it in one plate.
  3. Now dry roast dry fruits and peanuts transfer that too in a separate plate and let it cool.
  4. Now churn the poha in a mixer grinder to make it in a powder form.
  5. Coarsely grind dry fruits and peanuts too.
  6. Now heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a pan and add poha powder and raost if nicely till it changes it's colour a bit.
  7. This has to be done on low flame continuously stirring to avoid sticking at the base.
  8. Now add 1/2 cup milk and keep stirring.
  9. Now add jaggery powder coconut powder and elaichi powder and mix it well.
  10. Now add the remaining 2 tbsp of ghee and mix well and cool on low flame till the mixture gets combined.
  11. Off the flame Transfer it in a plate and add the dry fruits mixture.
  12. Mix it well the the make shape of Modak using the mould.

Again dry roast in a pan till it turns brown. Secondly bring jaggery syrup to boil, and cook grated.
